Former Penn State outside hitter and AVCA Honorable Mention All-American brings U.S. Women’s National Team experience and an accomplished international professional career to team

LOS ANGELES, CA (October 27, 2026) - Los Angeles Orbit, the professional women’s volleyball franchise competing in League One Volleyball (LOVB, pronounced LOVE), today announced the addition of Nia Reed, an accomplished opposite hitter whose experience spans the U.S. Women’s National Team, NCAA Division I volleyball and professional leagues across multiple countries.

A standout at Penn State University, Reed earned 2018 AVCA All-America Honorable Mention recognition after leading the Nittany Lions in scoring during her senior season. Since beginning her professional career in 2019, she has competed in Türkiye, France, Brazil, South Korea and the United States, bringing an international perspective and proven offensive ability to the Los Angeles roster.

Reed made her senior U.S. Women’s National Team debut during the 2022 Volleyball Nations League and helped Team USA earn a bronze medal at the 2022 Pan American Cup and silver at the Pan American Cup Final Six. Her professional accomplishments include winning the Brazilian Cup with Sesi Vôlei Bauru and earning recognition as the league’s Best Opposite in Brazil. She has also competed with the Omaha Supernovas in the United States and Dentil Praia Clube in Brazil.

At Penn State, Reed helped the Nittany Lions capture a Big Ten Conference title in 2017, reaching the NCAA Semifinals that same season and won a national championship in 2014. Her combination of collegiate success, international competition and professional experience makes her a valuable addition as Los Angeles Orbit prepares for its inaugural season.

“Nia brings a level of experience and offensive versatility that will make an immediate impact on our roster,” said Ana Mendy, President of Los Angeles Orbit. “She has competed against top talent around the world, represented the United States on the international stage and knows what it takes to perform in high-pressure environments. We want every athlete who wears this jersey to have the opportunity to shine, because at Los Angeles Orbit, Everything revolves around her.”

For Reed, joining Los Angeles Orbit represents an opportunity to bring her experience to a new team and compete in front of one of the country’s most passionate volleyball communities.

“I’ve been fortunate to play in different countries and learn from so many incredible teammates throughout my career, and I’m excited to bring those experiences to LA,” said Reed. “I wanted to join a team where I could compete at a high level, contribute to something special and be part of a group that genuinely wants to win. I’m looking forward to getting on the court with my teammates, bringing my energy and competitiveness every day, and giving LA fans and the community a team they can be proud of.”

Los Angeles Orbit will make its debut at Intuit Dome in Inglewood during LOVB’s 2026–2027 season, bringing professional women’s volleyball to Southern California. For season tickets please visit LAOrbit.com/season-tickets.
